Paso Robles

One of California’s oldest wine production zones, vineyards have been cultivated in Paso Robles since 1797. The Spanish Missionaries grew the first grapes, and their legacy continued through the region’s history. Despite its early start, Paso Robles was completely outdone by its northern rivals of Sonoma and Napa Counties, and only began expanding production significantly in the 1970s and 80s. Paso Robles’ hot, inland climate has made the area well suited for reds, with Zinfandel and other Rhône varieties dominating the field. [Content provided by Bottlenotes]
